Jamie Rhodes | CEO
With over 30 years of experience in technology management, Jamie Rhodes is a serial entrepreneur. Now CEO of SioTeX Corporation, he previously founded National NanoMaterials, Perceptive Sciences Corporation and a venture capital-funded start-up in telecom. Early in his career he worked at National Instruments and IBM.
Jamie founded the Central Texas Angel Network. He also organized angel groups around Texas into the Alliance of Texas Angel Networks, 13 angel groups that invested $40M in over 100 companies in 2015.
Jamie was honored to be named one of the 30 Most Influential People in Central Texas in the Last 30 Years by the Austin Business Journal and was named the Technology Volunteer of the Year by the GACC. He is a trustee of the IC2 Institute at the University of Texas and an IC2 Fellow. He holds both a Bachelor’s of Science degree and a Master’s of Science degree from the University of Texas at Austin.
Gary W. Beall, Ph. D. | CTO
Dr. Gary W. Beall (Texas State University, College of Sciences) has a Ph.D. in Physical Chemistry of rare earths and actinides from Baylor University. Dr. Beall’s first job out of graduate school was at Oak Ridge National Laboratory where he conducted research on the environmental fate of actinides originating from the civilian nuclear fuel cycle. He then moved to industry for 21 years during which he served as researcher, group leader, technical director, and vice president for a number of different companies and also founded his own company. Dr. Beall is well known for his work on nanoparticles (especially smectic type of nanoparticles) and their surface modification and application in a multitude of application areas. He is currently Full Professor in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry, Formosa Chair, Director of the Center for Nanophase Research, Associate Director of the Materials Science, Engineering, and Commercialization program, and Associate Dean of Research and Commercialization for the College of Science at Texas State University. He is also founder and CTO of National Nanomaterials Inc.
Marcus Goss, Ph. D. | COO
Dr. Goss, co-founder of SioTeX, serves as COO with previous experience in laboratory research of polymer science, additive, composites and engineered plastics, and clay science. Eight years of experience in manufacturing including training in ISO9000,
SixSigma, and TPS. Three years of experience in management of programs, resources and facilities. Dr. Goss holds a bachelor degree in Engineering Technology, a master of Chemistry, and a PhD in Materials Science, Engineering, and Commercialization, all from Texas State University.
Ms. Taylor, co-founder of SioTeX, serves as VP of Sales and Marketing. She has over eight years of experience in pharmaceutical sales and management, specializing in veterinary sales, supply, and marketing. Ms. Taylor has been able to deliver consistent 100% quota performance while fostering client relationships to improve sales and grow revenue. She holds a bachelor degree in English from the University of Texas at Austin and an MBA from Texas State University.

Mr. Steinke, co-founder of SioTeX, serves as CEO emeritus and is a board member of SioTeX with previous experience in entrepreneurship and business development. He has over 30 years of in-depth management experience in high technology companies serving diverse industries. Mr. Steinke holds a bachelor degree in Mathematics and a master of Physics, both from Baylor University. Most recently, Mr. Steinke founded Winrock Ventures, which specializes in building companies to maximum potential by developing strategies, management teams and sales/marketing infrastructures with a focus on high technology.
John W. Morgan served as President, Oxy Oil and Gas – Western Hemisphere, an affiliate of Los Angeles-based Occidental Petroleum Corporation, from 2005 until his retirement at the end of 2008. Mr. Morgan, who also was an Executive Vice President of Occidental Petroleum Corporation, was responsible for managing Occidental’s U.S. and Latin American petroleum operations.
Mr. Morgan, who holds B.S. and M.S. degrees in Agricultural Economics from Kansas State University, currently serves as a member of the Kansas State University Foundation and the KSU Alumni Board.
Pike Powers is a super-lawyer-turned entrepreneur whose leadership helped turn Austin, TX from a university town into a high-tech powerhouse. Powers received his law degree from the University of Texas in 1965. He was partner-in-charge of the Austin office of the international law firm of Fulbright & Jaworski, LLP from 1978 through 2004.
His leadership promoted a new creative spirit in the capital city – one that seized on global opportunities for economic development. That effort began in the governor’s office where Powers led in rallying the community toward the goal of landing the most prestigious economic development prizes of the 1980’s – the Microelectronics Computer Technology Consortium (MCC) and Sematech.
